As well as being able to offer you training, we are also able to supply and install all of the GMDSS equipment that you might require for your vessel.  We are able to supply equipment from most of the major manufacturers and would be happy to quote you for the supply of any equipment.

For over thirty years we have gained experience in the service and installation of electronic equipment ranging from Radar and Radio systems through to complex networked computer systems.  The experience that we have gained has covered the areas that are important if your system is going to work correctly, that is correct installation techniques as well as the ability to correctly configure equipment of this nature.

As with the equipment that we use to train our customers, we also have a policy of investment in equipment that is designed for use by technical personnel in field environments.  An example of this is the Procom SWR3000 Standing Wave Meter that we use  when we install or check marine VHF radio systems.

The Procom SWR3000 Standing Wave Ratio Meter

Many people tend to ignore the condition of the VHF antennae even though it is left exposed to some pretty serious elements during the course of the year.  A good antennae connected to a good radio will always ensure that you can get the maximum range from your VHF system.  A poor antennae will not only affect the amount of power that you transmit, it can also possibly damage a costly VHF radio.

Most SWR meters need to be connected in line between the radio and antennae which means that your radio needs to transmit in order to measure any standing wave ratio.  If this is carried out using a faulty aerial then there is a possibility that you may damage yiour radio.

The SWR 3000 is a state of the art Standing Wave Ratio Meter that can act independently from the radio.  It produces its own signal at a frequency and frequency spread that can be matched to your exact requirements.  Being standalone means that costly VHF equipment will not be damaged, it also enables us to check antennae systems if your mast has been removed from your vessel for winter storage or maintenance.

Anyone will admit that it must be better to have your antennae checked whilst the mast is down and be aware of any problems rather than waiting until it has been mounted and you are faced with the decision as to whether you use your Bosun's chair to affect a repair or pay to have your mast removed again.

It is, in our opinion, advisable to have this check carried out at the start of each season.

Our hourly rate is £17.50 per hour, there is no additional value added tax to be paid.

We are happy to work throughout the counties of Norfolk & Suffolk and there is no charge for traveling time if the work is within a 20 mile radius of Lowestoft.  Outside of this limit then our time is charged for travel at the rate mentioned above.
